Intro: 7 Mountains of Influence

Updated: Feb 29

“Our influence can only be effective if we aren’t hidden and we actually show up in every area of influence.”- Johnny Enlow

We are ALL CALLED to be MINISTERS on the front lines of culture.

Why would we sit on the side lines of culture when we have heavenly resources and all the keys to the kingdom?

God is using His sons and daughters to fill the earth with the glory of God and redeem the culture back to His original design through the 7 mountains of influence:

Media

Business/Economy

Arts + entertainment

Family

Religion

Government

Education

Matthew 5:14-16 “You are the light of the world – like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden. No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father.”

A lie/fear I want to directly point out that has kept followers of Christ from transforming the culture:

Lie: “Christians in the church are not allowed to be successful in the world because they will eventually fall into worldly desires. Therefore, it is best to stay away from the world.”

Yes, this could happen if there is not grounding of truth in the word of God. However, if we know our struggle is not against flesh and blood, then we know how to approach the “world”. The fear of man is not the real enemy.

1 Peter 5: 8-9 “Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.”

Ephesians 6:12 “For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.”

When we enter the front lines of culture, it is important to be positioned, watchful, and know how to discern between soul vs. spirit.

Romans 12:2 “ Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.”

The body of Christ is called to shift the atmosphere by bringing heaven on earth, not to come under whatever the world is doing.

If we are not on the front lines of culture, who else is going to bring heaven to earth?

What does this look like to influence the place you are at? For a start it could look like:

  • Speaking truth in the education system, media, government, family,...

  • Prayer walking in neighborhoods/workplaces.

  • Releasing blessing in the workplace.

  • Grabbing a hold of the favor you are given and using it to change laws, businesses, neighborhoods, communities, and cities.

  • Asking the Holy Spirit for a redemptive lens in the surrounding culture.

  • Being open for the Holy Spirit to move through you in the workplace.

  • Intentionally creating disciples in your area of influence.

  • Inviting the presence of God and communing with Him as you work.

  • Asking God for creative/kingdom ideas that will shift your area of influence.

If you are interested in learning how to walk as an influencer for the Kingdom of God, you can follow along and subscribe to read my continuous blog series on the 7 mountains of influence.

I recently organized a creative, collaborative photo shoot highlighting powerful women all about advancing the kingdom of God. Each woman represented a mountain of influence that aligned with their calling. I will be posting blogs on all 7 mountains and sharing interviews from all the women involved in the collaborative project.
